Does The Color Of Your Propane Pigtail Matter?

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/17/2025

Question:

Hi I have a 2020 grand design 2970 rl imagine travel trailer. I am looking for 2 lp gas lines to attach to the regulator. I was looking at the jr 07- 30865 mnpt 20 inch line. Will that work for my camper. It has the small hole in the plastic knob to attach to the tank. Mine us a dark green and this one is a light green does that make a difference. Thanks

Hello Terry, thanks for reaching out. Sounds like you are on the right track. There are differences that the colors reference for the Type 1 Propane connectors based on the spring tension and flow rate. The light green connectors are rated for Rated for 200,000 Btu per hour. The black are rated for 70,000-100,000 Btu per hour. The dark green are rated for 450,000-500,000 Btu per hour.

So if yours are dark green it is best to replace it with the same color pigtail. For that I recommend the following:

- MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail w/ Back Check - RV Type 1 x 1/4" Male NPT - 2' # 100473-24-MBS

Hey Terry, did you have a chance to find a dark green propane pigtail that matches your current setup? I'm asking because your experience could help others make the right choice for their campers.
