Is the Wall Mounted Thermostat with Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System a Real Thermostat?

Updated 04/29/2025 | Published 04/16/2025

Question:

Does the ADV92SR that comes with the wall mounted thermostat actually function as a thermostat or is it more or less a wall mounted remote that functions the same as a manual unit. I just want to make sure I get a unit the turns on and off as necessary not just manual controls.

Hello Grant,

The Advent # ADV92SR, when it comes with the wall-mounted thermostat, does in fact function like a true thermostat not just a fancy manual remote. That means it will automatically turn the air conditioner on and off to maintain the temperature you set, just like your thermostat at home. It's a great option if you're looking for a more "set-it-and-forget-it" kind of setup. Unlike basic manual units that just blow air continuously until you physically turn them off or adjust the fan speed, this version gives you more precise climate control and comfort. So yes, if your goal is to have the A/C cycle on and off as needed to keep your RV comfortable, the # ADV92SR with the wall thermostat will definitely do the job.

Are you adding an AC to trailer of camper, or replacing an old system?

If the wall-mounted thermostat wired to the controller or is it a wireless connection?

@Jeff The wall-mounted thermostat that comes with the Advent Air # ADV92SR Air Distribution Box is a wired thermostat. It connects directly to the air distribution box and the rooftop AC unit using physical wiring, no wireless setup for this model. If your RV is already pre-wired for a wall-mounted thermostat, you’re in luck, installing the new thermostat should be pretty straightforward. However, if your RV doesn’t have wiring in place, you would need to run new wires from where you want the thermostat mounted to the air distribution box and AC unit. It’s definitely manageable, but just something to be aware of.
