Can Older Thule Hullavator Be Mounted On 2024 Toyota RAV4?

Question:

I have a Thule Hullavator kayak rack that I bought in 2012 for my 2014 Rav4 I just purchased a 2024 RAV4, is it possible to get new crossbars to fit my new can so that I can use the same Thule Hullavator?

Hello Lynne, thanks for reaching out. The original Thule Hullavator TH897XT can mount to crossbars with top channels. So it is possible to use this on your new 2024 RAV4 as long as you get a compatible roof rack with top channels. We should have an option for you, I just need to know what roof style your RAV4 has. Do you have the factory roof rails running from front to back? If so, are they the raised rails, or the flush rails? Or do you have a naked roof?

Hi Jesse, I have factory roof rails running front to back, and they sit flush to the roof. I also have factory crossbars.

@Lynne Do your factory crossbars have top channels? Do they extend outward past the flush rails? If no to either of these questions, you will need to change out the roof rack for something like the Yakima SkyLine Roof Rack # Y29TB which comes with a 50" aero bar with a top channel.
