Troubleshooting Trailer Equalizers that Are Facing Wrong Direction After Equalizer Replace

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 04/06/2025

Question:

I recently installed your CRE 3000 system on my 2016 Jayce SLX 264 BHW. I combined it with the upgraded shackles, wet bolts, and leaf springs. All purchased through e-trailer. My question is on the orientation of the shackles. Mine seem to run in the opposite direction. I assumed the would eventually “fix itself” as I drove it and went over a few bumps. I just completed a 700 mile road trip and the shackles haven’t flipped. Is there a trick to get them to flip?

Hey Jonathan, sorry to hear about that. Did any of the components you replaced have different dimensions than the new parts you installed? Usually this would happen if the equalizer that was installed was a lot longer than the one it replaced. That said, sometimes you can put a jack on the axle and just by lifting the trailer up on the one side by the axle you can get the shackles to face right direction.

Hey Jonathan, did lifting one side of your trailer by the axle get the shackles on your CRE 3000 system to flip into the right position? Your results could really help others working through the same issue.

Jameson, I was able to flip the shackles by setting up some leveling blocks to make a ramp about 12 inches high. I then pulled the trailer forward onto the ramp, this flipped the forward facing shackles. At that point I had the front shackle in the correct position, I then moved the blocks to the back and reversed the trailer over the ramp to flip the rear shackles.

@JonathanH Nice! Glad you got it figured out. Have you had any issues with it since?
