Can Yakima EXO System Be Used On 2019 Winnebago Travato 59G?

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/05/2025

Question:

Im looking to purchase the Yakima XO swingarm base along with the two-tier attachment bike rack and enclosed cargo. I want to hitch-mount it to my 2019 Winnebago Travato 59 g extended cab. My questions are will this system work on that vehicle? How far away from the bumper will it sit? Do I need a hitch extender? Is the system that hitches into the vehicle have a locking mechanism? Thank you, Im looking to purchase this system in the next 30 days.

Hello Kevin, thanks for reaching out. The Yakima EXO System # Y54ZR can be used on your 2019 Winnebago Travato 59g/Ram ProMaster BUT you most likely will not be able to open the back door all the way with the system installed. It looks like we have multiple videos and customer reviews saying the EXO does not clear the door on this model RV. Using an extension is tricky because extensions cut your hitches tongue weight capacity in half, so this is usually not recommended/practical for the EXO system. The Yakima StraightShot Extender # Y69VR can work with the EXO if needed.

As far as clearance, the closest part of the EXO sytem will sit 4-1/2" back from the center of the hitch pin hole. The farthest part of the rack would be 35-1/2" from the hitch pin hole.

It does come with a hitch lock.

I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out with any other questions or comments and I am happy to get back to you.

Hey Kevin, how did things turn out with the Yakima EXO system on your Travato? Were you able to get the clearance you needed without using the StraightShot extender? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same setup.
