Will My Oars Fit in the Inno Rod Box Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier, What is the Width and Height?
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/16/2025 >
Question:
Inno rod holder - internal and external dimension. I noted on another question was mentioned skis could fit but would rattle around. I am curious to use it for oars for my raft when not carrying rods. They are generally 2” in diameter but ~3” at the oar lock. This is the closest item I have seen yet that might work wonderfully. I did see somewhere that exterior dimension was 6 3/8” so assuming at joints should be a minimum of 4”. Looking forward to your response so hopefully I can get ordered. Thanks

Hello Scott,
The Inno # IN52FR Rod Box is a rooftop cargo box designed to carry up to 8 fishing rods with reels attached, but it looks like it could be a great option for your raft oars too. The exterior dimensions are 13-3/8" wide x 6-5/8" tall, and the length is adjustable from 93" up to 115" (that’s 7'9" to 9'7"), which gives you flexibility depending on the length of your oars. The internal width is around 12", and internal height around 6", allowing for some room inside for slightly bulkier items like oars.
Since your oars are about 2 inches in diameter and roughly 3 inches wide at the oar lock, they will fit inside the # IN52FR, especially given the roomy internal width. Just keep in mind that the box has a weight capacity of 22 pounds, so if you're storing multiple oars, you’ll want to stay under that limit. It might also be a good idea to wrap the oars in some foam to keep them from rattling during transport.
What are you using the oars for, canoe, kayaks?

Hey Scott, how did the Inno rod box end up working for storing your raft oars? Did the fit and padding keep them from rattling around on the road? Your experience could help others thinking about using it for more than just fishing rods.
