What Info is Needed to Pick Out Replacement Trailer Axle

Published 03/11/2025

Question:

Hi, hoping you can help. Our Boy Scout troop has a trailer that needs an axle replaced. The label on the axle says Axis Products, 3500 lbs, part number 70374011 2/01. I understand Axis was bought out and it might be hard to find a replacement. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Id rather do a bolt in replacement rather than having to have someone cut and weld new mounting tabs. Thank you. Michael

Hey Michael, so we can definitely help but you'll need to take a couple dimensions on your current axle to know what you'd need. You need to know know the distance between the spring seat centers as well as the distance on the axle from hub face to hub face. With just that info we can see what you'd need. We might have the correct axle here but we don't carry every axle configuration so you might have to order a custom axle at a trailer shop near you.

Ok. It will take me a few days to get to the trailer to measure. It is a torsion axle so I assume I will measure hub face to face as well as the distance between mounting plates and angle. Mike

@Michael Yeah that's correct. If it's torsion though we do not have a replacement for that as we do not carry any torsion axles.
