Is Light Kit for Thule Verse Bike Rack Needed?

Question:
Thinking this rack might block my license plate and/or taillights on my SUV. What should I do? Is this illegal? Is TH24SA needed?

Hey Zane, typically with platform bike racks like the Thule Verse part # TH74SA the taillights of the vehicle are still very visible through the rack and bikes and you have nothing to worry about from a visibility standpoint or legally. But this rack does have a light kit available with the part # TH24SA if you wanted a little extra peace of mind. I have a similar light kit on a cargo carrier and it does make me feel a little better if I am stopped on a two lane road waiting to make a left turn hoping people behind me know I am stopped.
