Question:

I am looking for the best options for flat towing a 2019 Ford Expedition. I have a nighthawk tow bar that is currently setup for a blue ox tow bar on our Jeep. I would like to keep nighthawk tow bar.

Hello Chris, I can definitely help with that. Here are the parts you will need to flat tow your 2019 Ford Expedition:

- Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BO84FR

- Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152

- RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector - Vehicle End # RM-910030-7

- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

- Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional # SM99251

The charge line will be required to keep the towed vehicle battery from draining while towing. The wiring kit comes with everything you need to wire the towed, you will just need a 6-pin plug for the front. Your nighthawk tow bar should have come with the coiled cable for connecting to the RV.

You may also want to get a drop hitch to compensate for any height difference between the base plate arms and the hitch on your RV. Any difference of more than 3" will require a drop hitch like part # BLU28XR.

What coach are you towing with? I aske because the braking system I recommended is specifically for RVs with hydraulic brakes.

You will find all the parts I mentioned linked below. Feel free to reach out with any question, or let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hey Chris, how did the setup for flat towing your Expedition go with the Blue Ox base plate and the Nighthawk tow bar? Your results could really help others trying to keep their same tow bar when switching vehicles.
