Hello Greg,
Well that's not good. I see that the Dexter Idler Hub # 8-259-50UC1 has bearings for a straight spindle with both inner and outer bearing L44649 (I am hoping the 44549 was a typo) with inner diameter 1.063". It is very possible that your spindle could be worn. Can you please use something like a digital caliper # PTW80157 to confirm that is the measurement you are getting on your spindle? I know it is a pain to get those greasy bearings out, but if you could please measure the inner diameter of the bearing as well. Also, is it just one bearing or both? I included a chart so you know where to measure on the spindle.
Once you get those measurements, please hit the "REPLY TO KATE F" below to let me know what you come up with. I appreciate your time, and look forward to hearing back from you.

I have a Continental trailer, and apparently they use true 1" axles. The 44643 bearings have a 1" inner but use the same outer race so should be compatible with my hubs.
