Question:
We recently purchased a second hand old Thule Adventurer. Admittedly not knowing enough to realize the latch on the inside of the locking mechanism is completely missing not to mention needed new lock cores but it is what it is. So the lid will close but the front latch does not engage to hold the lid shut because its gone. I contacted Thule and they said they dont make that part anymore and offered me a coupon code for a new box but that isnt in the budget currently. We are pretty handy, but have never dealt with anything like this before. So my question is, what would you recommend to replace these locking mechanisms with? We have lots of tools at our disposal, just need to be pointed in the right direction. Thank you!

Hello Amy,
I am very sorry that Thule no longer makes that replacement part. I cannot think of anything that we have that will fix the lock on the inside. I think your best bet is going to be to secure it closed from the outside. 2 different options that I have come across on our site that might get the job done are the Hood Latch - Rubber # 37210875, or something like a Lockable Draw Pull Latch # 37211735. They might not be the prettiest options, but at least you can keep it closed. If you can, take the latch off and go to your local Ace Hardware and maybe somebody there will have just the part you are looking for. I always suggest Ace over Lowes or Home Depot as they seem more knowledgeable with fixing issues like the one you have ran into. I hope that the parts that I suggested help spark the great idea to keep it closed. Whatever you guys come up with, please let me know!
