How to Remove Factory Bump Stops on 2016 Tundra SR5 FWD Double Cab to Install Firestone Airbags
Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/12/2024 >
Question:
2016 Tundra SR5 FWD Double cab. Firestone F2445. Can the bump stop be removed instead of cutting it off? Or is there any kind of a replacement bump stop that will work with the air bags? I would rather not cut off the rubber part of the bump stop.

Hello Phil,
The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted - Rear Axle # F2445 is a great choice for you 2016 Toyota Tundra. The bump stop will only need to be cut off if they were installed with rivets, or if it is welded on. However, the more common way that they were installed on the 2016 Toyota Tundra was by bolting them on. If it is bolted on you can just use a socket wrench or a ratchet to remove. You might need to spray the bolts with penetrating oil if they are rusty or difficult to turn. You will need to check out your truck to see how yours were installed.
