Tip for Installing Top Channel of Rhino Rack Heavy Duty Crossbars

Question:
What is the trick to getting the rubber cross bar slot covers installed? You can slide them on about 6inch before they bind and cant push them on any further. I even removed the plastic endplug but that didnt help.

Have you tried like a rubber mallet to tap the slot further into the top channel? If you have a spray lithium lubricant I would try that too to help allow it to slip in.
