Can The Viair 400P-RV Compressor Be Powered By 7-Way?

Question:

I have a Viair 400P-RV compressor. Can I wire an Anderson style plug to an extra 7 pin plug to power this compressor. Opening the hood and connecting to the battery and running hoses all the way to my trailer tires is a PITA. this would allow me to operate from the middle of my F250 and travel trailer rig. Your thoughts?

Hello Robert, thanks for reaching out. All the Viair 400P-RV compressor needs to run is 12v DC power so it would be possible to power the compressor via your 7-way. Viair actually makes a version of the 400P compressor that has a pre-wired 7-way plug. You can see in the picture below it is basically just a 7-way with an inline fuse. While I really cannot recommend modifying your compressor since it would void you warranty, if you were to wire up something similar to this, I see no reason why it wouldn't work.
