The lowest profile roof rack we currently offer for a 2017 Ford Explorer would be the Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack for Fixed Mounting Points # RRRVP45. These would add about 3-1/2" in height to your Explorer. I've attached a few pictures below from the reviews to give you a better idea of how these would look.
