Question:

I’m wanting to buy a gooseneck pinbox for my 2016 reflection 318rst it has a lippert sn S000087723 and a LCI item 383188. I don’t know what pinbox this is to help decide what goosebox or gen y to buy. Or I’m also considering the lippert gooseneck connect.

Hey Brett,

The pin box on your 2016 Reflection is a 1621 rated at 15.5K according to my contact at Lippert. If we take that and the GVWR of your RV into account this means you need the Gen-Y Pin Box Adapter # GY38FR.

I took a look at the Lippert Gooseneck Connect and it's just a basic version adapter while the Gen-Y has the integrated rubber torsion arms so you'll actually see more of a benefit using the Gen-Y and is why I recommend going that route. You just need to pick up a set of safety chains like part # GY49GR and you'll be set.

Just so you have a heads up, currently Lippert claims that the Gen-Y pin box can void your warranty and they boast about their product not voiding the warranty of the Lippert chassis. Gen-Y is in talks with them about getting this changed though, and we've seen the Gen-Y come on Lippert chassis RVs from the factory so it feels like Lippert is making this claim right now just to push their own product. Hopefully this changes in the future.

What is the dimensions of the GY38FR? Will it but my trailer more forward or backwards compared to my original pin box

@BrettG From the forwardmost mounting hole to the middle of the hitch ball coupler it measures 16.907". I'm not sure what the current dimensions are for your pin box but you can compare this to the bolt hole to king pin distance of your current pin box to see if that makes any difference.

@BrettG The 94920, our part # RP85FR, replaced the 94720 so it's just a revamped version is all.
