Will 14" Wheels and Tires Fit Trailer With 15" Wheels and Tires

Question:
I have a trailer with 15 by 5x4 1/2 hubs. I wanted to use the same wheels and tires that I have on my boat. It has 14 by 5x4 1/2 hubs. I thought as long as the wheel was 5x4 1/2 both 14 and 15 wheels should fit. The 15 wheels are steel and the 14 boat wheels are aluminum. I hope I'm making since. Thanks James

Hi James; don't worry that makes sense. Since the bolt pattern matches between the two wheels you can put the same wheels and tires from your boat trailer on the other trailer. You're moving down a size so clearance shouldn't be an issue. The one thing you need to pay attention to is the capacity of the tires. Make sure the smaller tires can handle the weight of your other trailer.

That's what I thought. Since theyare both 5 x 41/2 could it be because 15" wheels are steel and the 14" are aluminum, could that be the issue? Thanks for the help
