Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/25/2024

Question:

I have a home built carrier rack on my camper van that has 1 foot diameter round raised rails 48inch apart. What are the most secure 58+inch cross bars that will fit?

Hi Mike; the only 58" crossbars we have without a full rack are the round # Y8810023 or the square # INB147. We have 59" aero bars from Rhino-Rack as well # RRVA150B-2. The issue will be finding a way to attach these to your home built rails. We don't have a specific way to attach them so that will be up to you.

All of the roof racks are designed to fit vehicle rails or tracks. You may have to install tracks which could be done with the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack # Y02-490B. This comes with 63" long roof rack tracks along with the 59" bars and feet designed to mount in the tracks.

Hey Mike, what did you end up using for your camper van’s raised rails? Knowing which crossbars or setup worked best could really help others with custom racks like yours. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same issue.
