Gooseneck Release Handle Will Not Stay In Out/Release Position

Updated 10/23/2024 | Published 10/22/2024

Question:

hydraulic / electric jack replacement pump, valve components and tank combo for a 20,000 GAWR single jack trailer? recommendations? Second, my underbed hitch for a goose neck, the handle to release the ball will not stay in the out/release position. Suggestions?

Hello Tom, thanks for reaching out. We may have the parts you are looking for, but I will need more information from you in order to narrow down the correct parts.

For the jack, I will need to know the brand and model number of your jack. I can use this to track down the available replacement parts. I will tell you up front that we are likely NOT going to have parts for your hydraulic jack. Those parts may be something you need to get from the original manufacturer of your trailer but let me know the brand and model and I can check it out.

For the gooseneck handle, again it will help a lot to know what brand and model of gooseneck you have. Some of the handles are designed differently so I want to be sure you are on the same page. It could be the spring on your handle is bad or went missing, but it is hard to say without knowing what you have. Let me know and I am happy to look into it.

The trailer is an old Dream Trailer, made by Diamond D Trailers in 2007. There are no names on the pump/valve tank components. There are some numbers. I do not expect to find any replacement parts for the more than 20 year old set up. I think it is best to simply replace the pump/ attached valve component and tank. Looking on my own, VEVOR sells what I believe I am looking for, a 12 volt hydraulic double acting pump. Their price is under $300. The under bed hitch is a B&W on a 2017 Ford. I can release the ball if I hold the handle in the release position or block it there with a board or someone holds it. It just won't stay there when I move it to the left to lock it in position. When one let's go of the handle, it moves back to the right and goes back in locking the pin in the ball body. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

@TomW Ok so I have heard of this problem before with the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch. What is likely happening is the spring that encompasses the release handle is worn out which means the threshold that is needed for the handle to hold in position is compromised. In order to fix the issue B&W recommends cutting a few coils out of the release spring that the handle sits inside. If that does not fix the issue I suggest you make a warranty claim with B&W since their gooseneck hitches do come with a lifetime warranty. As far as your jack, we do not offer any parts or pumps or anything for it due to the age. If you have found parts that will work definitely go with that. Otherwise the only solution I can offer would be a whole new jack.
