Question:
I have a 1987 trailer. It has car rims. How can I tell if I can convert to trailer rims either 5x4.5 or 5x5? Will my bearings tell what spindle I have?

Hi Ed; unless you have some kind of hub that won't allow trailer wheels all you need to do is identify the bolt pattern. I attached a help article below which explains how to measure and find your bolt pattern. If you're swapping out the hub you can use the bearings to identify the spindle and which hub fits. The bearings will either have part numbers stamped in them or you can measure the inner diameter with a digital caliper # PTW80157.

Hey Ed, how did things go with measuring your bolt pattern and checking the bearings on your trailer? Once you figured that out, were you able to match the right hub and rim setup? Your update could make it easier for others working on older trailers like yours.
