Recommended Nerf Bars for a 2001 Ford Ranger

Updated 10/02/2024 | Published 09/28/2024

Question:

I have a 2001 4 wheel drive Ford Ranger with the small rear doors. I followed the instructions that came with the package. I found that the only bolt I could find to remove on the floor panel appears to have a bushing on it and looks like it is holding the body to the frame. Also it doesnt look like the front bracket will fit onto the frame in a correct position. Do I have the correct nerf bar unit for my truck?

Andrew, these are definitely the correct nerf bars and I also checked the instructions as well, and that appears to be the correct bolt. But running boards never should connect to a cab/body mount bushing bolt. There should be pre-drilled holes near that area that you would need to use.

That means I must remove the bushing entirely?

@AndyT If that's what needs to happen for the bolt to come out then yes.
