B&W Companion or Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch For 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 w/ Puck System

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/23/2024

Question:

I have a 2024 2500HD High Country that is gas and has the 6.6L. I am pulling a 5th wheel that is around 16,000lb. regular size bed. What hitch would you suggest? Should I get a auto-slide from Demco? I was leaning towards the BandW. I am pulling a 2025 East to West Tandara 385MB 5th wheel.

Hey Larry,

In truth there isn't a wrong answer here between the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch # DM79GV and B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3775.

Both will fit the puck system of your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500, and while the automatic slide of the Demco is a nice feature, there's just no beating the overall quality of the Companion.

So your initial instincts leaning towards the B&W were right on. The biggest reason why the Companion is so exceptional is because of its robust, 1-inch thick jaw system. The sheer size of the jaws ensure they fully grasp the king pin at all times, which is important because that stops the king pin from moving, giving you a quieter, smoother ride.

The Companion # BWRVK3775 truly is the highest-quality 5th wheel hitch you can get, which is something our customers have also embraced, with thousands of reviews giving it close to 5 out of 5 stars.

Hey Larry, how did things go with the B&W Companion for your Silverado and Tandara setup? Did the ride feel as smooth and quiet as expected with that jaw system? Your feedback could really help others choosing between these two hitches.

@JesseM Everything went good. It was a little tight getting it to install the first time and I haven't removed it since but this is probably typical when using the factory installed Chevy mounts. The feel and ride are great. No issues at all with the hitch.

@LarryL Awesome thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear you are happy with the Companion hitch. Definitely typical to just leave the hitch in the bed with how heavy it is. Especially if you are towing full time. Might not be a bad idea to turn the puck handles periodically just to make sure they stay in good, moving order. Thanks again for taking the time to share!
