Hi, just wondering if this item DL14934 makes a ratcheting noise at all, or if its silent? I want to purchase a self braking cable winch that does NOT make the ratchet noise. Thank you Dan

The only brake winch style that would not make the ratcheting sound you are referring to is a worm gear winch. For a similarly rated winch to the # DL14934 that you referenced you would want the Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch # DL10950.
