Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/10/2024

Question:

Ranch Hitch Universal My flatbed sits too high to pull a level trailer. It has a balll so I need a conversion hitch. The Ranch Hitch: Adjusts to 12. I need it to adjust to 8 max. Could I cut the tubes without compromising the hitch strength?

Hey Glenn, if you found the right person to do the job yes I am sure you could find a way to cut down the Ranch Hitch part # AM3100 to the height you'd need it for. They would probably have to cut down the inner and outer tube as well as relocate the set screws so it would take a bit of fabrication to get it right.

Hey Glenn, how did things go after cutting down the Ranch Hitch to fit your flatbed setup? It’d be great to hear if the modification worked out as planned. Your update could make it easier for others facing the same height issue.
