Why Isn't My Microwave Heating Up

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 09/06/2024

Question:

I purchased a class A Motorhome with this microwave installed. It lasted about a month then stopped working on air fry mode and the microwave works but doesnt heat up anything to a hot temp. When the unit just sits empty, the turntable spins. Why should I get the same unit as replacement vs better units?

Phil, if your microwave is not heating up then you may have a burnt out diode or a bad microwave door switch. If the microwave door switch is damaged, the microwave will look like it's working, but won't actually heat up anything. If the diode has burnt out, this could indicate a short, which would allow electrical flow in both direction.

Since there are no replacement parts available, you'd have to replace it with something else. It'd be up to you if you want to reuse the same microwave or swap it to a different unit.

Hey Phil, what did you end up doing about the High Pointe microwave in your motorhome? Did you decide to replace it with the same model or go with a different unit? Your update could help others facing the same issue.
