Hi everyone, Steven here with etrailer.com. Folks, today we're looking at our Norcold RV refrigerator with freezer. This is the 15-cubic-foot unit and it runs on 12 volts of power and it's got a nice stainless steel finish. So folks, as you can see, this French door refrigerator by Norcold is gonna have lots of space for you to put your gear in as far as your food, your supplies for your trip. And I'm gonna go ahead and push this over here a little bit for your viewing pleasure. And again, it runs on 12 volts of DC current.
You have a nice tray, slide-out freezer here on the bottom. So this is gonna give you better clearance in tight spaces than your traditional doors. The French doors will be able to open up a lot wider for you. You're gonna have four shelves and six door compartments. Let me zoom in a little bit for you there so you can see that better.
So again, one, two, three, and three on that side. And as always, you have a couple of these that are adjustable. You can obviously move 'em to wherever you need 'em to fit your needs as far as, you know, different size heights of condiments, maybe you wanna put some wine bottles or something in here, I don't know. And then of course you have your crisper trays and your different shelves. Now the shelves are adjustable, but you do have to pop a cap off and use a screwdriver to adjust them.
And that's just so whenever you're moving the RV camp or whatnot, they're not sliding out on you, falling out, anything like that. So again, close up here, you can see that stainless steel finish and you can see the simple door handles. You pull 'em and they kind of open down like this. You have a nice LED display unit up here. That's your control panel here.
Now you do have a tray on the bottom, a freezer rather, that's a pullout. Let's go ahead and look from the top down of that. So just simply pull this lever here and it slides open. And as you can see, you've got a tray here. You've got another slide-out drawer there on top. Once you slide that out, you've got a couple wire baskets that you can stock full of your favorite frozen dishes and those kind of things. And again, just a simple, easy close, just like that. So folks, again, this is the Norcold. It does work again on 12 volts of DC current, 15 cubic foot of capacity. Some quick dimensions just to make sure it's gonna fit your needs. The cutout is 63 5/16 inches tall, 24 inches deep. So 24 inches deep, both sides have a handle here and one on the opposite side to help you pick it up whenever you need to move it. And it is 32 3/4 inches wide on the exterior width. Now as you can see, you got two different compressors, one for the fridge, one for the freezer. There are LED lights inside as well. You can look through the photos on the product page here and see all the everything lit up. I'm not able to light up today, unfortunately, because it runs on 12-volt power. But it does have two different compressors. Those are gonna work independently to give you a better energy rating and everything as well when needed. So it's not just running everything unless it absolutely needs to to keep it at the temperature that you set it at. Now, this is a simple installation. It's an RV standard nine holes and it hard wires directly again into that 12-volt electrical line on the RV or camper or wherever you're putting it. Now, it may look a little uneven. I've got it on a roll-around cart right now today. Keep in mind it does have adjustable feet to ensure that it's level at all times, and you get all the hardware included for installation as well. Folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our look together. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
Easy to install, works great.
I am very impressed about doing business with etrailer.com. There were 4-RV 12 volt refrigerators in stock when I ordered 1. Delivery to the east coast via freight arrived on schedule. I installed it in my RV and unfortunately it was a defective refrig. The same day I contacted my salesperson with the bummer news I received notification that a replacement refrig was in the system for shipment. Can’t get any better than that!! The 2nd refrig from etrailer.com works as it should.
Also, prior to ordering I reviewed the informational video for this refrigerator and learned enough to make me understand I was prepared to install it. The size, the door swing, the electrical connection, all the important information has been provided by the video, huge amount of work, thank you
Excellent support, service and quick delivery. Already installed replacing a 17 year old Norcold propane/electric refrigerator with the 2 additional cubic feet 12 volt unit. Works well and cools down much faster.
Great choice for a 12v compressor RV refrigerator. I chose this option to replace a 2009 Dometic RM3962 120v/propane model. RV is a 2010 Glendale Titanium 34E39RE and was installed in the kitchen slide. This refrigerator was the largest replacement for the old Dometic I could find and has a similar door latch for travel. Operation is very quiet, good interior light on the top of the refrigerator compartment.
The 12 wiring in the slide was only #14 AWG, and I chose to make a new home run directly from the battery to avoid voltage drop. Highest current I have measured so far is about 5a, so the old wire would have been fine. My reason for going to a compressor type is to obtain better performance in summer conditions and during travel. A test run of 10 hours at a maximum ambient air of 85 degrees F on the old house batteries was fine, so we are set for summer travel.
The cabinet face frame was only 3/4" wide, and the 3 screw locations on either side of the refrigerator frame required backing up the cabinet frame to provide a landing for the screws. On one side I milled a piece of lumber to narrow the width 1//2" while also providing the screw landing. Only one of the 6 screw pockets was drilled through and required drilling the plastic on the others. I had to make a 3" panel to block off the space over the refrigerator. Instructions call for blocking outside ventilation, so I used aluminum duct tape to cover the inside of the louvers in the access panels. Refrigerator ventilation is under the bottom, a fan over the compressor directs air up the back, the warm air flows out through a path built into the top control panel.
I found the door latch pins could deflect the plastic bracket they seat into allowing the doors to open with a bit of a tug, so I backed that bracket up with a small piece of wood mounted to the cabinet frame.
A note on shipping - Estes delivered the unit with the entire bottom of the corrugated shipping box worn away - no pallet - box bottom flaps remaining were obviously wet. only one foot was slightly bent so I accepted it after looking at the bottom of the unit. This should be shipped with something to protect the bottom of the carton. On the other hand, all we had to do was lift the box and packing up off the refrigerator so "unpacking" was super easy! Even a piece of thin plywood taped to the bottom of the carton would suffice. Seeing the thing "walked" out of the truck on the refrigerator feet was unsettling!
