Does CE Smith V-Wing Bolster Bracket Install to Boat Trailer with U-Bolts

Question:
We have a 1982 Godfrey AquaPatio pontoon, 16’ long 8’ wide. Looking to replace our current bunks and brackets as they have rusted through and are overall in poor condition. We are interested in this product but are not sure how to get the new brackets mounted to our trailer cross member. Currently, the bunks and brackets are being held on by a U-bolt that sits perpendicular to the bunk board and bracket. The product looks like it would have to sit parallel and I am unsure as to how we would mount it.

Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out!
The CE Smith V-Wing Bolster Bracket # CE26244G is installed by putting bolts through your frame as opposed to using U-Bolts or something similar. You can definitely switch out to this style, but you'll need to drill holes into your crossbeams to install the brackets.

Hey Mike, how did things go with mounting the new V-Wing brackets on your trailer crossbeams? It’d be great to hear if drilling the holes worked out smoothly. Your update could make it easier for others replacing rusted bunks and brackets on older pontoons.
