Can The Furrion Tankless RV Water Heater Be Installed Inside A Cabinet With A Vent

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/24/2024

Question:

I have a food trailer can I put the propane tankless on demand water heater under The sink cabinet. I can add a Small fan for air flow. Or would It be better to use A tank that vents out?

Hey Deb,

The Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR93FR would need to vent out to the outside of the trailer. The rear of the unit can sit in a cabinet but you would not be able to have it vent inside the trailer. The Excel RV Tankless Water Heater # EX93FR wouldn't have as great of an output but would be able to be installed in a cabinet without having to be vented outside. The # EX93FR requires 3" of clearance on the sides and 8" of clearance above to allow for proper airflow. I would still add a vent or something to keep air flowing through that cabinet to prevent the oxygen sensor in the # EX93FR from shutting itself off.

Hey Deb, how did things go with the tankless water heater setup in your food trailer? Did the Excel model give you the airflow and performance you needed under the sink? Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar layout.
