How To Connect 2 Propane Tanks To a Champion Propane Generator

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/11/2024

Question:

For my Champion generator model 201175, I want to connect two 20lb propane supply tanks with auto switchover regulator to the generator. The generator requires ½ PSI with a flow rate of 152,000 BTU/hr. when under maximum load. The generator supply line is a quick connect hose. If you could recommend parts, that would help me make a purchase. Thanks

The option that is closest to what you mentioned is the same as a camper having. You can use the Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59005 as it does meet the required 11" volume required by the Champion generator. You will also need 2 Camco Propane Supply Hose # CAM59153 to connect to both tanks. The problem lies in finding the correct quick connect as Champion does not sell the quick connect separately. You would need to have your hose taken to a hydraulic line shop and have a custom hose made with the 3/8 NPT male on one end and your quick connect for the Champion generator on the other.

Hey, how did things go getting your Champion generator connected with the Camco regulator and hoses? Were you able to have the custom quick connect hose made for it? Your update could make it easier for others working on a similar setup.
