Trailer Towing With a 2018 Mini Cooper Countryman S

Question:

I am looking at a 2018 Mini Countryman S, manual, and want to tow a tear trailer. I am getting conflicting towing capacity numbers. The trailer should max out at 1900 lbs. Will your hitch handle it? Should I add brakes to the trailer? What kind of setup do you have?

I am having trouble finding an exact towing capacity number for your 2018 Mini Cooper Countryman S. I have looked in the owners manual but while it addresses towing it does not give any capacities or requirements for your vehicle. Because of this you are going to want to reach out to a dealer to have them tell you what it is physically capable of towing. If you find the number is okay for towing the 1,900lbs I recommend the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit # SH92QR. This will give you the wiring for a 4-way flat. If your trailer does have the ability to use electric trailer brakes you can add a 7-Way # ETBC7 and Brake Controller # RED52VR to make driving with your trailer safer.
