Bike Rack Recommendation for 1 E-Bike and 3 Road/Mountain Bikes

Updated 05/29/2024 | Published 05/25/2024

Question:

My head is spinning trying to find a rack that will work for my family. Im thinking it doesnt exist! We have 4 bikes: 1-ebike that weighs 60lbs and has front and rear fenders 3-road/small mountain bikes that weigh about 20 lbs each We need a ramp to help with loading. I thought I had it with the Yakima StageTwo but the fenders are a problem and I dont see a work around for this. I am also close with the Kuat Piston ProX or the NV 2.0 with a pool noodle workaround for the fender but Kuat said that if I get the 4 bike configuration each tray only holds 40lbs. Help!

Hey Laura, thanks for reaching out!

You have a unique lineup of bikes which is why you're having such a hard time, but I do believe I've found a solution for you with the Saris MHS DUO Bike Rack # SAR95MR as Saris has rated the first two trays for up to 60 lb bikes and then the rearmost trays are rated for up to 35 lb bikes.

This rack has adjustable arms that allow you to secure your bike tires at different locations so you can avoid making contact with the front and back fenders on your E-Bike, or you can get the Wheel Holder for Bike with Fenders # SAR82MR to make this a none-issue. We also have a loading ramp you can get as part # SAR54GR to assist you with loading that heavier bike (and even the lighter bikes if you don't want to lift them up completely by yourself).

The MHS DUO is a bit heavy at 162 lbs though so you might consider using the Dolly # SAR33MR and an extra set of hands to move it around and get it installed.
