Can a 20 Amp Circuit Breaker Be Replaced With a 15 Amp To Power a Furrion 900 Watt Microwave?

Question:
Hi. I have a Super C RV and my Furrion fmcm15 900 watt microwave quick connect receptacle seems to be bad. It runs fine with an extension cord plugged into a 15 amp receptacle. I am having a hard time finding another 20 amp to replace the bad one. Is it ok to replace the 20 amp receptacle with a 15 amp? I see that the breaker is 20 amps which powers the refrigerator and living room TV. Thank you Jo

Expert Reply:
While a 900 watt Furrion Microwave # FMSN09BL only requires about 12 amps of power to operate you will want to verify what other items may be on the same circuit as this may cause a 15 amp breaker to trip whenever you use the microwave. If the microwave is the only item on the circuit then a 15 amp breaker will work in place of the 20 amp breaker.
