I have a 2021 Crossroads Zinger Lite ZR18RK single axle travel trailer. The current tire size 205/75r14. I’m going to be replacing the tires soon, and I’m trying to determine the best course of action. My GVW is 4470 pounds, and the Kenda Karrier tires that came with the trailer have a 2200 pound max weight rating. In looking for tires from other manufacturers in that size, the highest weight rating I can find is 2040 pounds for class D tires. It seems that Kenda is the only manufacturer whose weight rating is 2200 for that size, which I almost tend not to believe. I think I’d like to step up to a bigger tire, so that I can have a weight rating safety margin, possibly a 225/75r15 that I could get a higher load index on. Would it be possible to do this without worrying about tire fitment issues too much? I’m not worried about the small height increase, and I know I’d have to buy new wheels as well, but that seems like a small price to pay for peace of mind. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Load Range D is the highest for your standard 205/75-14 tire with a 2,040-2,100 lb max load. The 2,200 lb rating of the Kenda # AM10235 is higher than normal but that is how they designed it. You can upgrade to a larger tire like the # AM32680 you looked at as long as you have the clearance.
The diameter of this tire is 2.1" larger and the width is 0.8" wider. This means you will lose 1.05" of clearance on the top and 0.4" on the inside of the tire. You want at least 2" of clearance on the inside and 3" on top so I recommend double checking this with your current setup before upgrading. I'm guessing you have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern right now so assuming you want a white wheel the # AM32545 would be a better choice.
