Question:
Hello, I have a 2014 Arctic Fox 35-5z. It is equipped with the Inteli-power 9200 series 80amp converter. I recently moved to a new RV park and am experiencing low and high voltage readings. I run a Hughes power watchdog 50 amp surge protector. I have a Hughes volt meter that i plug into one of my outlets to monitor voltage. I moved to a new spot and in the middle of the day sometimes show anywhere from 104-110 volts when other campers are running AC. Then at about 4:00 am when I get up for work I sometimes see a reading of 130. Realizing these number were not good for my rv, I ordered a Hughes autoformer. Since plugging in the autoformer, I checked to see if it was boosting, and the lights indicate that it is boosting. I have had the surge protector shut down a couple times on high voltage readings. Now I am wondering if my converter is going bad. I checked the batteries that are a couple yrs old, tested fine, topped off with distilled water. Just wondering if installing a new PD9200 would help me out. Thanks so much.

The Progressive Dynamics PD9200 Series Battery Converter Charger 80A only takes 120 volt power and converts it to 12 volt to run 12 volt accessories such as the awning, vent fans and lights. Since you mentioned you tested the battery and it is good then it sounds like your current converter is operating correctly. While the Hughes Autoformers does not protect from overvoltage the Power Watchdog Surge Protector # HU27FR does and if you are using them together this is likely what is causing your power shutting down on you.
