What Wheel Width Does Tire Size ST205/75-15 Fit

Updated 04/07/2025 | Published 04/22/2024

Question:

I need a spare rim and tire for my trailer. Its a white spoked 15 rim. The tire has these markings, Titan ST 205 75R15 Radial 4ST Load Range C 2 polyester and 2 steel plies. How do I determine the width of the rim so that I can the correct one? Thank you.

Hey Gary, so to determine the width of your current wheel would require either removing the tire and measuring the width of it or if you can find a part number on the wheel you could look it up that way. But at the end of the day your tire size of ST205/75-15 fits wheel widths of 5-6-1/2 inches so as long as the new wheel you go with is within that range you'd be fine and it wouldn't matter the width of what you have now.

For example the part # AM20534 would work great if you have a 6 lug bolt pattern or the part # AM20537 for if you have the very common 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

Hi Jameson, I have a similar inquiry. My tire size is the same, ST205/75R15. I have been wanting to replace the current 15x5 rims as they are pretty ugly and rusted out. I have determined that I can go with a 6 inch rim and have plenty of clearance between the inner tire wall and the frame. However I just want to know if there is an advantage to the extra inch wide rim over just replacing it with the current 15x5? I am thinking it will alter the tread contact surface slightly? Would it also change the diameter of the tire slightly? Thanks in advance for your input. Vince

@Vince Going to a wider wheel would make the top of the tire to be a little flatter when fully inflated but it would not change the diameter. In theory the flatter the tire the better the contact it would have with the road but it's not going to make a massive difference. For a 6 inch wide 15 inch diameter wheel though we have the part # AM20537.
