Is There a Mounting Adapter For Thule HideAway Awning To Mount On Roof With 45 Degree Angle?

Published 04/17/2024

Question:

Would this bracket work for a roof mount hideaway? Im shoping for an awning that can cover the side doors of my van, and need an awning with 9ft support legs to clear my high doors. The 12.3 roof mount hideaway has these, how ever there isnt a mounting option to attach the roof mount to a flat fiberglass surface. Im hoping to find a way to attach either a wall mount or a roof mount to the 45 degree angle/transition from the wall to the roof, but am also concerned about the downward angle on the extension arms of the awning.

While we do not have an exact mounting bracket to install the Thule HideAway Awning # TH490011 on your roof the Adapter # TH307887 looks like it is going to be the easiest to modify to fit your angled roofline. This mounting adapter has a rounded portion to fit a different roof but it should be fairly easily straightened with a vise. You could also bend the bracket slightly if it does not match the exact angle you need.

Thanks for the info Bud, do you know how much of a downward angle the awning can support? Im curious if i can use the supplied wall mounts and simply mount it on the angle, and still have some travel left in the extension arms. Thanks!

@DaveT When I reached out to Thule for their input they said you need to have the Awning mounted vertically and not on an angle. That is the reason they offer the different mounting brackets to get the awning cassette mounted as flush as possible to the wall.
