Question:

Please recommend tow bar and equipment to tow 2014 Jeep wrangler equipped with Fab Four Lifestyle bumper. Bumper is not installed yet. Appreciate any tricks I may want to consider before doing it that will make towing better. Need to tow it behind RV.

I may have a solution for you but none of the base plates available for the 2014 Jeep Wrangler or Wrangler Unlimited will fit if the vehicle has an aftermarket bumper. Instead you can use adapers that connect to the bumper's D-rings. I'm fairly sure Fab Fours bumpers have 1 inch D-rings so part # RM-035-1 will work for you. If I'm wrong we have part # RM-035 for 3/4 inch D-rings. If yours are a different size let me know.

A tow bar to go with the adapters is the Sterling # RM-576. It includes the safety cables and a wiring connector and cable.

You will also need a lighting solution. I recommend the Hopkins # HM56200. With this kit installed you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring. Since the Sterling has the 6-way connector included I recommend cutting the 4-way off the Hopkins harness and using the Sterling's connector. This way you can add another circuit, like a charge line for the Jeep's battery, if you'd like.

And finally, most states require a supplemental braking system in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest kind of systems to set up and use are the portable systems like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. It will apply the Jeep brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. A 12 volt outlet kit # RM-9332 is recommend as well to power the Patriot 3.
