Can The Roof Of a 2018 Lincoln Navigator Support 300LBS Of Cargo?

Question:

I have a 2018 Lincoln Navigator L with the original factory flush side rails, and I need to carry 300 lbs - since these are rated for 220 lbs, can I add a third one and increase it to 330 lbs?

According to the owners manual for your 2018 Lincoln Navigator L it appears the maximum roof capacity with a sunroof is 125lbs and without a sunroof is 200lbs. So there is no way you would be able to carry 300lbs on your roof without risking damage to the roof. While the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack for Factory Tracks # Y02-480B-NT are rated up to 220lbs you cannot exceed the capacity given from the vehicle manufacturer even if you used 3 crossbars. If you can tell me what you are looking to carry I can help you determine the best way to carry it with your Navigator?

Hi Bud, I appreciate your response and time - I have product in long slender boxes that are 100" long by 5" wide and 3" tall at 15 pounds each, and we need about 16 on hand at any time during our work day. I thought to construct a pvc board box to hold them at 4 x 4 high or 8 x 2 high, if the roof racks are wide enough for that second One...

@DevinD Due to the weight and size of your cargo the best solution I can think of is using a small Trailer# MPG460XT. This trailer can carry up to 500lbs on the crossbars.

@BudM that's understandable - I'd like to inquire: if an adult can walk on the roof, then can 300 lbs spread out on the roof (not including on the sunroof)?

@Devin I cannot recommend it as where a person is stepping is different than where a roof rack attaches to the roof. Also when you are driving with the weight it reacts differently than when you are stopped. It is best to go off the owners manual for these numbers.
