If I have a shorter kayak can I use the Lockrack Surfboard Rack - 13-3/4" Wide - Universal Mount Item # LR97VR interchangeably for my surfboard and then my kayak?

The Lockrack Surfboard Rack # LR97VR is only tall enough for a surfboard. If you want to use this same carrier for your kayak then you need to swap out the shorter arms for the Long Arm Set # LR99FR.
The short arms might be able to technically wedge against the kayak, but they won't be tall enough to properly secure your boat.
