Question:

What do I need to add a brake controller to my 2024 Santa Cruz? I believe I have the tow package. What brake controller should I get?

If you want to add a brake controller to your 2024 Santa Cruz you have to start by adding a 7-way. Since you have the factory tow package you can use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # C68JR. This plugs into the tow package connector behind your rear bumper for a simple installation.

With your 7-way installed you will be ready to add a brake controller. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR. This brake controller is simple and reliable with a small footprint. The main unit installs behind your dash so only the control knob will be visible. The knob controls the braking power and is also the manual override. You will also need the Curt # C77BR along with the Redarc Adapter # 331-TPH-019 for a plug and play installation.

Robin: Are you telling me that with these 4 items (C68JR, C77BR, adapter 331-TPH-019 and a curt brake control module) I can add trailer brakes to my 2022 Santa Cruz (with tow package) and not have to wire anything else? Usually, you have to wire the actual brake wire in from the control module. Is that eliminated with this wiring set up? I do not have the red arc I have the Curt controller C51170. I've been fooling with this thing for over a year with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Lee yes, since you already have the Curt Spectrum # C51170, you only need the # C77BR and # C68JR for your 2022 Santa Cruz with the factory tow package. The # C77BR plugs directly into the factory brake controller port under the dash and into your Spectrum, so you do not have to run a separate brake output wire back to the 7-way. The # C68JR plugs into the factory wiring at the rear and completes that connection for you. You won't need the # 331-TPH-019 since that adapter is only needed for the Redarc controller in the original answer.

@RobinHOk, then I'll give it a try again. Pretty sure I got nothing before, but I'll do as you say one more time. Thank you for the quick answer!
