Could Tire Blow Out Cause Other Axle to Bend Spindle
Updated 11/06/2023 | Published 11/05/2023 >
Question:
I have a 2012 keystone outback 295re camper trailer and use a WD hitch. Two years ago I blew a tire out on the front axle and now two years later the rear axle tire, same side, is wearing badly on the inside of tread face. Could the blown tire in the front axle have caused the rear axle to bend its spindle? We did not realize the tire had blown until someone flagged us down so I think we drove for about a mile or two with it flat....tire was shredded and rim was damaged. Also, do you have a replacement bare axle that will fit?

Tire blow outs do not tend to bend or damage spindles but things can happen. I would recommend taking the trailer to an alignment shop who can do trailers and see what they think is going on. It could be damaged suspension components too so you might check there as well. To pick out a replacement axle you would need to know a few things but we don't what axle your trailer needs.
You'd need to know the axle capacity, the distance from spring seat to spring seat on current axle as well as distance from hub face to hub face.
