Question:
My truck is a 2007 Ford F-150 5.4L V-8, equipped with 7 pin tow package. I assume that the wiring plug mounted under the dash see enclosed photo is the plug for a brake controller. Can you recommend a brake controller that will work with this wiring? I will be towing a 28 ft. Airstream camper GVWR 7600#.

You are correct that the wiring plug mounted under the dash is the plug for the brake controller.
As for a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885, and a Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3035-P.
I have linked a helpful article about trailer brake controllers and a video of the installation of a brake controller for a trailer on a 2009 Ford F150.
