Troubleshooting Titan BrakeRite II System Pump Running but Trailer Brakes not Working
Updated 04/02/2014 | Published 04/01/2014 >
Question:
Then I depress the brake pedal I can hear the pump much quieter that normal but with no braking. When the brakes were working the pump was louder. Do these pumps freeze up. If so, what can be done to unfreeze? isit an electrical issue?

The issue that you are seeing may indeed be an electrical issue. I recommend checking all the connections and wiring and make sure that there are not any loose connections, or signs of damage to any of the wiring.
I have included a link to the installation instructions for the Titan BrakeRite II # T4834102, and as noted in the troubleshooting section, most problems that are experienced are related to wiring issues. There are several helpful diagrams at the end of the installation instructions that may help you out.
Another item to check, is the vehicle battery and the battery that is used for powering the Brake Rite II. You will want to make sure that both batteries have and are supplying a full charge to the system. If your trailer has sat for a while make sure that the battery has not discharged while being parked.
After you have checked the wiring and confirmed the correct battery input and output, I would also check the fluid levels in the system. Since the pump is activating but no braking is occurring it might be low on fluid. You may need to check the fluid levels and bleed the brake lines to ensure there is no air in the lines. I have included a video demonstrating how to do this for your reference.
If the pump in your Titan BrakeRite II is not function properly we do not currently offer replacement parts for the pump. You would need to contact Titan directly for service information or replacement parts.
