Solution to Allow Door to Clear Over Lippert Solidstep When Open

Question:
When I close the screen door, it clears over the threshold. When I close the exterior door when the steps are down, the exterior door contacts the small rise on the threshold, and I cannot close the door. Am thinking we need to remove the exterior door and remove about 1/4 inch from the bottom of the door. Would you agree, or do you have another suggestion? Thank you.

You have two options to gain the clearance needed for the door to close. You can trim the door down like you mentioned or you can hammer the hinge plate lower. Lippert is actually who suggested hammering the hinge plate but they did say it would void the warranty.
