Is Ground Issue to Cause For Low Light of MCL85AB
Updated 08/28/2023 | Published 08/25/2023 >
Question:
I recently ordered 2 of these mini led side markers. I installed them both on my boat trailer. The first one worked great! The second one works, but the 3 leds barely illuminate. They appear to be only at about 20 brightness compared to the other one. Is this a ground issue? Not sure if I got a bad one or its something with the installation. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yep, you're 100% on the money with the issue being a less than idea ground for the Mini LED Clearance or Side Marker Trailer Light # MCL85AB.
That is almost certainly the reason why it isn't as bright, and that's not terribly uncommon on these lights that ground through their mounting hardware instead of having a ground wire. I'd remove and reinstall after cleaning the ground area where it installs.
