The correct MX-Style (or Direct-Connect) base plate kit for your 2018 Chevy Equinox is the following:

- Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5

This has brackets custom fit for your vehicle and uses the same type of connection that the MX kit you were looking at does.

Please note this is only designed for the 1.5L I4 Turbo FWD and 1.6L I4 Diesel engines. If you have the 2.0L Gas engine then you need the etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98965 instead.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.
