How to Gain Trailer Towing Clearance with Owl Vans Cargo Box on a 2022 Sprinter Van

Question:

I have a 2022 sprinter van, specifically a Winnebago Revel. Ive added an Owl Vans cargo box on the rear door. The box extends 15 inch from the door and interferes with towing my boat. The boat is near maximum weight for the towing abilities of the Sprinter 5,000 max. It is dual axel and 22 foot long. Removing the cargo box every time I tow is a PITA. Is there a type of extension that doesnt reduce towing capacity? This isnt FLAT towing because there is weight on the tongue - right?

Since this is towing, using an extension would mean the weight capacity is reduced, BUT you might be able to get away with a ball mount that has an extra long shank:

This guy has a weight capacity of 6,000 lbs, offers a 3/4" Rise/2" Drop, and measures 15-.3/4" from the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball hole so it at least gets you closer to the edge of the Owl Vans Cargo Box you're using.

Aside from this, I'm afraid there aren't any other solutions that keep you within your weight ratings.
