What Gauge Wire Should be Ran When Installing Brake Controller
Question:
Dear Sir or Madam, I am going to fit a Hopkins Item # HM40975-11998 and Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Item # 90195 to my 2019 Mazda CX9 AWD. I need to run a wire from the vehicle battery and also a wire from the P3 brake controller, to the 7 way mounted at the rear. What would be the best size wire gauge to use, for the respective 12v supply, brake controller and the correct amperage breakers for each circuit please? Thank you in advance,

Helpful Expert Reply:
For all of the circuits you mentioned you would want to use 10 gauge wire like our part number #10-1-1 which we sell by the foot. For the power and ground for the controller that runs to vehicle battery a double bonded wire setup like part # 10-2-1 might be a better option for a neater install. This is essentially two wires bonded together so its like running one wire but then you split them off at the ends.
