We bought the camper with this handle already installed factory and the foam cover is melting and adhering to the door itself in the folded position. This cant be normal. Is there a fix or solution?

Well you're right, that's not normal. What likely happened is that you may have just got a defective unit and it'll just need to be replaced.
I recommend checking out the Lend-a-Hand Extra Large Folding Grab Handle for RVs # AM-533.
This replacement handle is virtually the same as the Camco Fold-Away RV Grab Handle # CAM42175, only this is going to be made in the USA with better quality materials, is a bit larger at 37" tall x 25-1/2" wide, and is also made from powder coated Aluminum which helps resist corrosion.

Will the mounts have to be transfered if switching from the Camco to the Lend a hand folding handle? My camco broke but the mounts are still good.
