This rack will fit the Honda Insight? Why is hitching up a womans bike without the adapter a problem. One reviewer had hers on an angle- is that wrong or dangerous?

Yes, the Thule Passage 2 trunk mount bike rack # TH910XT will fit your 2011 Honda Insight. The adapter is recommended so that you can carry the bike more level and have better ground clearance. It also makes it easier to mount the bikes.
I have to use 2 of adapter # TH982XT and without them my wifes bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all. I have linked a video review of the rack and a video showing how the adapter works.
